Counter-Strike turns 25 years
The franchise celebrated its anniversary on June 19.

The first version of the online shooter appeared in 1999 - then it was a mod for Half-Life. The game was developed by Min Li and Jess Cliff. After 1.5 years, the project began to be officially supported by Valve. In the public beta, gamers had access to four maps in which they had to free hostages captured by terrorists. A little later, the most popular bomb defusing mode appeared in the game.

Now Counter-Strike is one of the main disciplines in eSports. The current version of the shooter is CS2, which replaced CS:GO in September 2023.
