One of Insomniac's main developers has defected to a competitor.

The creative director of the superhero action game Marvel's Wolverine, Brian Horton, has left Insomniac and joined The Initiative to head up the production of the action game Perfect Dark. Interestingly, The Initiative is owned by Xbox, so it's safe to say that the developer has defected to a competing company.

It's rare for someone of such rank to leave in the midst of a video game's production, and that doesn't bode well. Horton has been replaced by Marcus Smith. In addition, the game's game director has changed to Mike Daly.

The reason for Horton's departure, according to insider Stephen Totilo, was creative differences. It's unclear what exactly was meant, but it's entirely possible that the Wolverine game was turning out to be too similar to Insomniac's hit Marvel's Spider-Man.
