According to Bloomberg, the company has stopped developing a corresponding subscription service for selling iPhones. This model was supposed to strengthen user loyalty to the brand and its ecosystem, but the project, planned for 2022, was never implemented. At the moment, work on it has been completely stopped.
The idea was to make buying a smartphone similar to signing up for a subscription. Users could make a monthly payment and receive a new iPhone model every year. This approach could increase sales of devices and seriously compete with installment plans and promotions offered by mobile operators.
Despite high expectations, the project was never launched. Apple has not yet disclosed the reasons for abandoning this sales model and has not given official comments.
