Crytek Studios is facing serious difficulties and has announced that it is freezing the development of Crysis 4. Production was suspended back in Q3 2024, but this has only become known now. In an attempt to stabilize the situation, the company focused on work on Hunt: Showdown 1896, but this did not bring the expected results.
In order to reduce costs, Crytek decided to reduce its staff by 15%. The company currently has about 400 employees, which means layoffs of at least 60 people.
An additional blow to the project was the dismissal of Crysis 4 game director Mattias Engström, known for his work on Hitman III. He left the studio at the end of 2024, which caused concern among fans of the series. Fans are disappointed with what is happening, but such a development did not come as a big surprise to them.
