A new study shows that working from home not only changes employees’ daily routines, but also encourages the emergence of unusual habits. Not having to go to the office every day makes people less strict in following their usual social norms.
For example, only 73% of remote workers shower before starting their workday, while this figure is 85% among office workers. Deodorant use also differs: 81% versus 95%, respectively. Even basic hygiene, such as brushing teeth, changes — 92% of remote workers do this daily, compared to 95% of office colleagues.

Working from home also affects the choice of clothing: many prefer pajamas or comfortable home clothes instead of a formal dress code. Some even divide their wardrobe into daytime and nighttime pajamas. In addition, people working remotely are more likely to talk to themselves, sing, or take dance breaks — which would look strange in an office environment.
However, remote work also has serious downsides. For example, many people find it difficult to maintain a balance between work and rest: some forget to take breaks, while others, on the contrary, drag them out. In addition, the level of social skills decreases, which can affect communication and teamwork in the long term.
