According to Deadline, the film version of the cult game will be directed by Michael Sarnoski, who gained fame thanks to the drama Pig with Nicolas Cage and the recently released film A Quiet Place: Day One. The film is being produced by A24 and Kojima Productions, with Hideo Kojima himself serving as a producer.

Plans to create the film became known back in 2022. Kojima took a key position in the project from the very beginning, and a year later it became known about the partnership with A24, the company behind such hits as Everything, Everywhere, and at Once.

At the moment, the plot of the film, the cast, and the premiere date remain a secret. It is only known that Sarnoski himself will write the script for the film, combining the duties of screenwriter and director. The start date of filming has also not yet been announced.
