Almost 9 years have passed since the release of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and the continuation of Adam Jensen's story has still not seen the light of day. Despite considerable interest from fans, the industry seems to be in no hurry to give a second life to the cult cyberpunk series.

According to Insider Gaming, Eidos Montreal is actively trying to bring Deus Ex back into development. According to sources, the team has repeatedly proposed the idea of a new part to various publishers and companies, but they constantly refuse. According to potential investors, the franchise is too niche and may not pay off - especially given past failures. It is separately noted that Mankind Divided, although it received positive reviews, did not live up to commercial expectations, despite a large-scale marketing campaign from the then publisher Square Enix.

At the moment, little is known about the concept of the new project. One of the publication's interlocutors noted that the idea of the project, although it looks interesting, does not yet reach the level of previous parts of the franchise. It is also emphasized that this is not the game that Embracer Group cancelled at the start of 2024.
In addition, the studio is going through hard times. Not long ago, Eidos Montreal carried out a new wave of layoffs - 75 employees lost their jobs after finishing work on an unannounced title. In the past, one of the Deus Ex screenwriters shared what the ending of the planned trilogy should have been, but there are no real steps towards its implementation yet.
