During a special presentation, Nintendo demonstrated the long-awaited racing arcade Mario Kart World, which will be one of the first exclusives for the new Switch 2 console. A special feature of the release will be the increased price of $80, which makes the project the company's most expensive game at the start of sales.
Players will find a large cast of classic characters, including Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Bowser, as well as an extensive collection of tracks - both completely new and updated versions of legendary tracks from previous parts of the series. The project will offer two main modes: the traditional "Grand Prix" and the innovative "Knockout Tour" with intense competitions.
Among the innovations are unique items such as a time rewind mechanism and a freezing ice flower, as well as a completely new for the franchise opportunity to freely explore the open world with a photo function. The multiplayer component has been significantly expanded - now team races for 24 players with voice chat integration are supported.
Mario Kart World is set to officially release on June 5, the same day as the Nintendo Switch 2 console itself. The launch marks a new price point for Nintendo, which is adapting its pricing policy to the modern market standards of premium game releases for the first time.
