According to research from Ampere Analysis, the upcoming release of the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5 could set new records in the portable gaming segment. Experts predict sales of 13 million units by 2025, which will exceed the combined figures of all portable gaming PCs in history, including Steam Deck. By 2030, the mark of 100 million consoles sold is expected to be reached.

An interesting fact from the study: more than half (56%) of Steam Deck owners also use the Nintendo Switch, but only 1.3% of them consider the Valve device their main platform. Nintendo is so confident in the success of the new device that for the first time in 20 years, the company has abandoned traditional pre-release reviews, expecting to sell 15 million units in the first 10 months.
However, experts note potential risks: the increased dimensions and reduced battery life may reduce the portability of the device compared to the original Switch. These technical compromises will be a key factor in determining whether the new console can live up to such optimistic sales projections.
