A group of enthusiasts have started creating an unofficial story add-on called “Atomic Heart: Prequel”, which will be a prequel to the original shooter from Mundfish. The project, which is in the early stages of development, has already acquired the first screenshots demonstrating new locations created on Unreal Engine 4.

The mod developers are considering switching to Unreal Engine 5 to improve the visual component, but the final decision has not yet been made. According to preliminary plans, the release of the fan add-on may take place in 2025-2026. “Atomic Heart: Prequel” will offer an alternative view of the game’s universe, revealing the events preceding the main storyline.
Despite the lack of official support from Mundfish, the project is of considerable interest among Atomic Heart fans. The authors of the add-on emphasize that their work is non-commercial and is created solely out of love for the original game.
