The original Crysis has finally disappeared from Steam

The classic shooter Crysis, known for its revolutionary graphics technology for its time, is no longer available for purchase on Steam. Although a separate version of the game disappeared from the store back in 2021, until recently it could be purchased as part of the Crysis Maximum Edition collection. Now this option has disappeared too - users are left with only the version of Crysis Remastered available for purchase, which faced criticism at its release due to optimization and performance issues.



Developer Crytek did not comment on the reasons for removing the original game from sale, but this decision looks especially symbolic against the backdrop of the studio's financial difficulties. Earlier, it became known that the development of Crysis 4 was frozen due to lack of funding. For now, the original Crysis remains available in the GOG store, known for its policy of preserving classic games without DRM protection. For fans of the series, this is the last chance to legally purchase the iconic shooter in its original form.
