Battlefield 6 Faces Serious Development Problems
According to sources at Ars Technica, work on the new Battlefield is taking place under serious difficulties. The development of the story campaign, designed for only 6 hours of gameplay, has already gone through several reboots. Ridgeline, the studio initially responsible for the campaign, was removed from the project, and now work on the story mode has been divided between DICE, Criterion, and Motive. As of early 2025, the campaign remains the only aspect of the game that has not even reached the alpha testing stage.

The situation is aggravated by a change in approaches to development management on the part of EA. If previously the European division of DICE had relative freedom in planning deadlines, now the American management of the company focuses on financial indicators and release dates, rather than on the quality of the product. Constant pressure from management leads to the fact that developers do not have time to fully implement creative ideas.

Despite its internal problems, EA has high hopes for Battlefield 6, planning to attract more than 100 million players - which is several times more than the audience of previous parts of the series. The project's budget has already exceeded the planned $ 400 million. In preparation for the release, the company launched a testing program to evaluate new multiplayer modes, including the return of the class system and a free "royale" mode. However, many developers doubt that the game will be able to achieve the planned success rates in the current conditions.
