Apple Revises Its Strategy for Entering the Foldable Device Market

According to insiders, Apple has radically changed its approach to the development of foldable gadgets, fully focusing on the creation of a foldable iPhone and temporarily freezing the foldable iPad project. The main reason for this decision was the technological difficulties and high cost of producing large-sized flexible displays that meet the company's strict standards.

Problems with creating OLED panels with a diagonal of 18.8-20.2 inches without a noticeable bend at the bend, as well as the potentially high retail price of the device, forced Apple to reconsider its priorities. Instead, all resources are directed to accelerating the development of a foldable iPhone, which is already at the prototype stage. The device will receive a 7.8-inch flexible screen from Samsung, a titanium frame, an improved hinge mechanism and a side Touch ID scanner.
It is planned that mass testing of the foldable iPhone will begin in early 2026, and the official presentation will take place in September of the same year. The new product is expected to cost between $2,100 and $2,300, positioning it as a flagship product in Apple's lineup. This strategic move demonstrates the company's cautious approach to entering a new market for foldable devices, which is dominated by Asian manufacturers.
