Claptrap Returns in New Borderlands 4 Trailer
GTA fans keep finding interesting details on the Rockstar support portal. After recently discovering traces of the next-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2, users noticed an unexpected hint about a possible GTA 4 remaster. When trying to specify the platform where problems with the game appeared, PlayStation 4 unexpectedly appeared in the list of options - a platform on which the original fourth part was never officially released. Usually, PC, PS3, Xbox 360, as well as Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S for backward compatibility are among the available ones. However, soon the PS4 option, like the Xbox Series X|S, was quickly removed from the site.

Speculations about the GTA 4 remaster have been circulating on the network for several years now. Back in 2022, insider Tez2 claimed that after the failed launch of the updated trilogy of classic GTAs, the studio temporarily abandoned plans to update GTA 4 and RDR 2. However, according to Kotaku's sources, these projects were only postponed, but not completely closed. In May 2025, the same Tez2 reported that work on the updated version of GTA 4 had allegedly been going on for at least a year and that the release could take place closer to the end of 2025. This is also supported by the closure of the Liberty City Preservation Project fan modification, which transfers Liberty City from GTA 4 to the GTA 5 engine - a move that fans consider an attempt to clear space for an official remaster.

Additional intrigue is created by Take2's quarterly report, which mentions a re-release of one of the already released titles, scheduled for release before the end of March 2026. All of this fuels the community's confidence that GTA 4 can truly get a second life on modern platforms.
