Minecraft and EA Sports FC 25 top European game sales for H1 2025
According to analysts from GfK, the football simulator EA Sports FC 25 became the absolute sales leader in Europe in the first half of 2025. The title took 1st place in Belgium, Denmark, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK, confirming its status as one of the most popular projects.

The second position is occupied by the role-playing action game Assassin’s Creed Shadows, released in March. Despite the fact that it was second only to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in terms of initial sales, Shadows was able to attract millions of players, some of whom got acquainted with the project through a Ubisoft+ subscription. At the same time, in France, the homeland of developer Ubisoft, the game became the absolute market leader.

The cult sandbox Minecraft, whose popularity received an additional boost after the release of the film adaptation “Minecraft in the Movie” in April, rounds out the top three. Although the title only took the leading position in Finland, it was consistently in the top 3 in most European countries.
In some regions, the top list looked different. For example, in the Czech Republic, the best-selling game was Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which takes place in Bohemia in the Middle Ages. In Germany, the party game Super Mario Party Jamboree for Nintendo Switch took first place, confirming the franchise's popularity among local players.
