Cyberpunk 2077 on Mac Shows Disappointing Performance

Tech experts tested Cyberpunk 2077 after the release of the version for Apple computers, and the results were far from impressive. Even the top-end Mac models demonstrate modest performance, which does not allow comfortable gaming without the use of frame generation and upscaling technologies.
The tests were conducted on various Mac configurations, including the flagship MacBook Pro 16 (2024) with the M4 Max chip. At a resolution of 2336x1460, the device produced an average of 125 frames per second, but ray tracing support remained unavailable. More modest systems, such as the MacBook Pro with M3 Pro, showed even less convincing results - at a resolution of 1800x1125 and enabled scaling, the average was 49.5 FPS with a target of 60 frames. Activating ray tracing reduced performance to 25.5 FPS, which makes gameplay uncomfortable.

Despite this, the native version of Cyberpunk 2077 for Mac still demonstrates an advantage over emulation, providing a performance boost of 6 to 30% depending on the settings. However, even with this improvement, the game on Apple computers is noticeably inferior in optimization to traditional gaming PCs of a similar price category.
