Ubisoft Names the Reason for Star Wars Outlaws' Poor Sales

Ubisoft has admitted that its new game Star Wars Outlaws failed to achieve the expected commercial results. The studio's management attributed this failure not to the project's internal problems, but to a general decline in interest in the Star Wars universe. During a report to investors, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that the game had become hostage to the situation surrounding the franchise. As an example, he cited the Acolyte series, which also failed to attract enough attention from viewers and was eventually closed.

Star Wars Outlaws failed to meet its sales plans, although Ubisoft quickly improved the game after release, fixing bugs and improving gameplay. Guillemot emphasized that the Nintendo Switch 2 version, scheduled for release in September 2025, will be significantly improved and will offer players a better experience.
Despite the statements about the failure, Star Wars Outlaws remained in the top 3 best-selling games for several months, especially on the PC platform. The release took place in August 2024, and since then Ubisoft has continued to support the project, eliminating technical flaws.
