Dinosaurs in the Sky and on Land: Microsoft Flight Simulator Expands the Jurassic World Universe

The upcoming version of the flight simulator will feature an unusual and ambitious add-on, developed by OrbX in collaboration with Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment. Under the name Jurassic World Archipelago, the game invites gamers to be transported into the atmosphere of the Jurassic World universe — officially licensed content will open access to six detailed islands, including the iconic Nublar and the Muertes archipelago, located off the coast of Costa Rica. All locations correspond to the cinematic canon and are recreated in the state in which they were the day before the events of the first film of the franchise — the park is already functioning, but there is no stability in it.

The release of the add-on is scheduled for late August - early September 2025. The gameplay will not just be picturesque: the environment will offer players real challenges. The weather conditions on the islands will be extremely changeable, and the missions will be complex and varied. Quests include flights with VIP guests, aerial photography of park facilities, and testing piloting skills in non-standard situations, including landings in hard-to-reach places.

Players will be able to use six airfields and a dozen helipads, and visit redesigned facilities on the mainland. Particular attention is paid to the Costa Rica International Airport and the marina in Herradura Bay, which has become the starting point for most helicopter routes.

One of the most impressive elements will be the opportunity to observe dinosaurs from the air. And we are not only talking about land-based velociraptors or brachiosaurs - pterosaurs may also appear in the sky, flying dangerously close to aircraft.

The DLC will first be exclusive to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, but will later be released for the 2020 version, expanding the boundaries of virtual flights to the scale of a fantastic adventure.
