Accidental Leak: Ubisoft Confirms Far Cry Series Is in the Works From Fargo Creator
Assassin's Creed III creative director Alex Hutchinson revealed that Ubisoft originally intended to end the franchise after the third installment. According to the developers, the trilogy was supposed to tell the full story of Desmond Miles, and the final game was supposed to take place in a modern setting. But the unexpected success of the first installments inspired the studio to reconsider their plans.

Hutchinson explained that Ubisoft's management recognized the huge potential of the franchise and decided to radically change the concept of the third installment to leave room for future sequels. This strategic turn allowed the series to develop into one of the most successful gaming franchises, which already has 25 games, including the latest Assassin's Creed: Shadows released this year. According to unconfirmed reports, the studio is also working on a remake of the cult Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, which testifies to the continuing popularity of the series.
