Mafia: The Old Country sales fail to meet publisher's expectations

The new Mafia title The Old Country has shown modest commercial results after its release. According to analysts from Sensor Tower, the project sold 800,000 copies across all platforms in the first five days, with almost half of the sales coming from PlayStation consoles.

This figure is considered insufficient for a high-budget project, which usually needs to sell several million copies to break even. The average time spent by players in Mafia: The Old Country was 8.8 hours, with a total playthrough time of about 12 hours.

Analysts note that despite the commercial difficulties, the developers managed to successfully implement the linear structure of the game - most players on different platforms completed the project to the end, which distinguishes it from longer games, where the completion percentage is usually lower. The high price of $50 set by the publisher, according to experts, could have been one of the reasons for the relatively weak sales.
