Study Finds California Road Standards Violations in GTA 5

YouTuber Any Austin has conducted a detailed analysis of the road infrastructure in Grand Theft Auto 5, comparing it to official California state standards. The study, based on the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), found numerous inconsistencies with real-life road standards.

Special attention was paid to stop signs, which in the game are often placed without the required additional plates at signalized intersections, which is contrary to California regulations. Visibility issues with signs, which are sometimes blocked by poles, and their illogical placement at intersections with traffic lights were also found.

The researcher noted other violations, including the use of a prohibited "Do Not Block Intersection" sign and an excessive number of signs in certain places, which reduces their effectiveness according to the MUTCD. Although Rockstar Games is known for its meticulous attention to detail, this study demonstrates that even in such a meticulously created world, there are still elements that do not meet real-life standards.
