Key details of Apple's first foldable iPhone revealed

Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman has published new details about the first foldable iPhone, which the company intends to introduce next year. The device will be made in the "book" form factor with an external display up to 6 inches diagonally and an internal flexible 8-inch display. The main camera will receive two modules, while each of the displays will have a front camera.

A special feature will be the absence of the Face ID system - the Touch ID fingerprint scanner built into the power button will be used for biometric authentication. This decision is due to limitations on the thickness of the case, which when folded will be approximately 9.5 mm. The device will be equipped with the Apple C1 modem, previously presented in the iPhone 16e, and will be offered in only two color options - black and white.

For the American market, the smartphone will be released without a SIM card slot. The absence of the TrueDepth system is explained by the technical complexity of its placement in a thin folding case. The device is not expected to debut until 2026, which is in line with the company's previously announced plans to enter the foldable device market.
