Battlefield 6 developers have abandoned the implementation of ray tracing in favor of performance
Ripple Effect Studios CTO Christian Bühl has confirmed that the upcoming Battlefield 6 will not feature ray tracing at launch or in post-release support. This decision was made early in development to ensure the game runs smoothly across a range of hardware, including consoles and PCs of varying configurations. The developers focused on optimizing baseline performance instead of implementing resource-intensive technologies.

Notably, previous games in the series — Battlefield V and Battlefield 2042 — supported ray tracing for reflections, shadows, and lighting on PC. However, for the new installment, the studio decided to sacrifice this feature in favor of guaranteed smoothness of gameplay and wide availability.
