Leak: Actors Hint at Injustice 3 in Development
At recent geek culture conventions, including Nostalgia Con in Houston, attendees have taken notice of the voice actors who work on the Injustice fighting game series. According to their stories, Phil LaMarr, best known for his role as John Stewart, the Green Lantern, mentioned to fans that the studio was busy creating a new installment and that Injustice 3 was indeed on the way. His colleague George Newbern, who has voiced Superman for many years, responded to the comment about MultiVersus by saying that he was currently working on the third game in the series.
There has been no official confirmation from NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros., but rumors of a threequel have been circulating for a long time. Back in September 2021, the name Injustice 3 surfaced in the database of the Nvidia GeForce NOW cloud service, and in the following years, many projects from that list have indeed been announced. At the same time, the expected order of the studio's games was disrupted: from 2011 to 2019, NetherRealm alternated between Mortal Kombat and Injustice releases, but after Mortal Kombat 11, Mortal Kombat 1 was released, bypassing the alternation. Despite this, the developers clearly did not ignore the second series - in 2020, the studio was looking for an engineer to create next-generation graphics for both Mortal Kombat and Injustice.

Fans are left to wonder whether Injustice 3 will be NetherRealm's next release. Studio head Ed Boon has previously hinted more than once that a third-party project unrelated to the two main franchises is in development, and insiders claim that it could be a fighting game based in the Marvel universe. There have been cases in history where actors have revealed secrets before official announcements: Janina Gavankar let it slip that there will be a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, Jon Bernthal confirmed his participation in Spider-Man 4, and Matt Ryan once found himself in the center of a legal dispute after his words about the remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. So the new revelations from the Injustice voices may well be true, although there is still no clarity about the future of the series.
