Electric cars outsell gasoline cars in China for the first time
According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), the share of EV sales in China’s domestic market has consistently exceeded 51% over the past five months, marking the first time in history that consumer preferences have shifted toward greener transport. This shift reflects a global trend similar to the Norwegian scenario, where the share of EVs increased from 50% in 2020 to 90% in 2024.

China is strengthening its position as the world leader in EV production, accounting for more than 70% of global output (12 million out of 17 million units produced). However, only about a million vehicles are exported, highlighting the focus on the domestic market. Growth is also observed in the commercial segment, where the share of electric passenger vehicles has reached 31%.
