Former Rockstar Developer Denies Rumors of New Grand Theft Auto VI Delay

After a new wave of rumors about a possible delay in the release of GTA 6, former Rockstar employee Obbe Vermeil, who not long ago predicted the first delay of the title, intervened in the discussion. In his message on the X social network, he stated that the latest publications about the delay are just a pursuit of attention, and noted that the choice of the date for May 2026 was made deliberately. According to Vermeil, the final decision on the release will be made five months before the launch, and speculation before December does not make sense.

Similar optimism was previously expressed by the head of T2 Strauss Zelnick. In the spring, he emphasized that he was confident in the absence of new delays and noted that Rockstar traditionally copes with the high expectations of the audience, setting the same task for GTA 6.

The game was officially announced at the end of 2023. The release was initially scheduled for 2025, but was later postponed to May 26, 2026. At the same time, the company presented a new trailer and also revealed details about the plot, characters and map.
