Hollow Knight: Silksong Launches Stronger Than Many AAA Blockbusters
Metroidvania, which is already being called one of the most important indie games in history, is showing impressive sales results. Specialist Rhys Elliott from the analytical company Alinea Analytics reported that in just three days after its debut, more than 5 million users played the game on all available platforms, including the Game Pass audience. On Steam, sales exceeded the 3 million mark and provided Team Cherry with multi-million dollar earnings.

Such a rise was not unexpected: Silksong held the title of the most desired title of 2025 on Steam for a long time, and was on the wish lists of 5.2 million gamers. Moreover, the metroidvania managed to enter the list of twenty projects with peak online users for the entire time of the service's operation.
The audience portrait deserves special attention. According to the analysis, 78% of buyers are already familiar with the first Hollow Knight, about half have experience playing Elden Ring, and a third own Dark Souls 3 or Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
