Dambuster Studios Begins Development of Dead Island 3

Dead Island 2, despite its long and problematic development, ultimately turned out to be a successful project that managed to surprise not only players, but also investors. Two years after the release, Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios summed up the results, celebrating the 14th anniversary of the series and sharing statistics. From April 2023 to September 2025, about 20 million users played the game on different platforms. This figure does not reflect sales, but the total number of players, which is explained by the distribution of the action game through PlayStation Plus and Game Pass subscriptions, as well as free distribution in the Epic Games Store.

Although there was no full announcement of the sequel, the publisher hinted that the story is far from over, and the Dambuster team is already working on Dead Island 3. As confirmation, concept art was published with Jacob, one of the main characters of the second part. Judging by the image, the hero left Los Angeles and went to a new place, where new challenges await him.
