Elon Musk launches Grokipedia, a Wikipedia alternative with "more liberal rules"
Elon Musk unveiled a new project called Grokipedia, which he describes as an improved version of Wikipedia. Development will be handled by xAI, and the initiative's main idea is to create an encyclopedia with less stringent restrictions and a wider range of acceptable sources.

The announcement comes amid complaints from investors and banking representatives about Wikipedia's current policies. Former banker John Lefevre pointed out that sources like Fox News are banned, while investor David Sachs noted that articles on the platform are frequently edited, despite the trust of millions of users and their use in training language models.

Musk responded to these statements on his social media account, X, calling Wikipedia "hopelessly biased." He emphasized that it ranks high in Google search and serves as the foundation for many AI systems, which, in his view, carries risks. Grokipedia, on the other hand, should offer looser rules and the ability to cite a significantly wider range of sources. The specific launch dates for the new project have not yet been disclosed.
