Rumor: Counter-Strike 2 may bring back the ability to buy ammo.

A feature that has long since disappeared from the series may appear in CS2. According to a data miner nicknamed Molekuryatnik, references have been discovered in the latest files of Valve's shooter that point to the possible return of the ammo purchasing mechanic.

While exploring the game's internal data, the enthusiast found new icons related to ammunition and magazines, as well as references to extra ammo. He believes the developers are considering two implementation options: the ability to purchase ammo at the start of a round or to loot it from defeated opponents during a match.

If this rumor is confirmed, it would mark a return to Counter-Strike's classic roots. In earlier versions, including the legendary Counter-Strike 1.6, players indeed had to purchase ammunition separately from their weapons, and this could only be done in the first seconds of a round. This system was later abandoned, with ammo becoming infinite to simplify gameplay.
