Call of Duty developers support Xbox Game Pass price increase

Insider TheGhostOfHope reported that employees at studios working on the Call of Duty series have responded positively to the recent increase in Xbox Game Pass subscription prices. According to sources, the price increase will increase Microsoft's revenue and, as a result, open up more opportunities for developers to earn bonuses and additional payments.

As the blogger noted, after the Game Pass price increase from $19.99 to $29.99 per month, a more optimistic mood has settled over the teams at Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games. Employees now expect a greater financial return from Call of Duty's success, although their dependence on sales figures is increasing. The atmosphere within Activision has improved, especially amid preparations for the release of Black Ops 7.

Bloomberg previously reported that Microsoft allegedly lost approximately $300 million by making Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 available on Game Pass on launch day. There was no official confirmation of this information, and analysts expressed doubt about its veracity.

Microsoft updated the Game Pass structure in early October: the company renamed the plans, changed their content, and increased the price of the premium Ultimate tier by 50 percent. The next installment in the franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which includes a co-op campaign, multiplayer battles, and a Zombies mode, will be released on November 14.
