The game designer of the original Saints Row will be working on a new reboot of the series

Chris Stockman, who served as design director on the original Saints Row, confirmed he has received an offer to develop the concept for a new reboot of the cult crime action game. Apparently, his studio, Bit Planet Games, will be handling the project.

Interest in a possible revival of the series arose after Stockman's interview, in which he detailed the reasons for the failure of the recent reboot and shared his own ideas about what Saints Row should truly be. These words resonated with fans and, as it turned out, the franchise's owners.

According to the game designer, the new Saints Row will not repeat the overly absurd tone of the later installments and will return to the spirit of the 2006 original. He emphasized his desire to return the series to its roots, emphasizing the atmosphere of street crime and dynamic yet realistic action. He also noted that the project will not be a VR game and is in the pre-production stage—work is currently underway on the concept and team assembly.

The original Saints Row was released in 2006 exclusively for the Xbox 360 and became a successful alternative to Grand Theft Auto. Its sequel cemented its success, but over time, the series lost its direction and devolved into a parody of itself. A 2022 reboot attempt by Volition studio failed, effectively leading to its closure. The new project, led by Stockman, is intended to be an attempt to return the franchise to its roots.
