First look at the new Resident Evil film: filming underway in snowy Prague

Production has begun in the Czech Republic on a new Resident Evil film adaptation, which has already gained recognition as one of the most promising adaptations of the series. Filming is underway in Prague, where journalists captured the first footage from the set.

Although the film is set in a fictional American city, Colorado license plates are visible on the cars. Filming took place from October 29 to November 2, primarily at night. To create the atmosphere, the streets of the capital were covered with artificial snow, and gunshots and car stunts were heard during filming. Residents of nearby buildings were asked to keep their lights off to avoid disrupting the scene's lighting.

Austin Abrams, known for his work on the series Euphoria and The Walking Dead, plays the lead role. According to insiders, the film follows a courier who, while fulfilling a request, becomes embroiled in a massive zombie outbreak. Zach Cregger, director of the recent horror film Guns, is directing. The film is scheduled to premiere on September 18, 2026.
