Nintendo has released the first footage of the full-length film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda

After years of cautiously approaching film adaptations, Nintendo is actively pursuing its own film direction and is working on a film based on The Legend of Zelda universe. The company has revealed official stills for the upcoming film, showcasing the lead actors for the first time.

The released images feature Princess Zelda, played by Bo Bragason, and Link, played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth. Filming is taking place in New Zealand, and the photos capture the country's atmospheric landscapes, which will form part of the film adaptation's visual foundation. The project is being directed by Wes Ball, known for his work on The Maze Runner, and the screenplay is being written by Derek Connolly, who co-wrote Jurassic World. The film is scheduled for release on May 7, 2026. Prior to this, Nintendo and Illumination released the first trailer for "Super Mario Galaxy Movie".
