A Valve engineer dispelled rumors about the release of Half-Life 3 along with the updated Steam Machine

For over a year, insiders have been claiming that Valve is working on Half-Life 3, and in recent weeks, anticipation has reached fever pitch with rumors of an imminent announcement. However, instead of the long-awaited game, the company unveiled three new developments: the Steam Machine, the Steam Frame, and an updated Steam Controller. This presentation only fueled fan speculation, with many believing the release of these devices could be preparation for the return of the legendary series.

However, Valve engineer Pierre-Loup Griffe made it clear that such hopes are unfounded. On the Friends Per Second podcast, he stated that the company has no plans to release the Steam Machine alongside the new game, effectively refuting the most popular fan theory. He clarified that Valve is currently working only on updates for the Aperture Desk Job, which serves as a demonstration of the Steam Deck's capabilities and will eventually be adapted for the Steam Controller. That concludes the list of related projects.

It's important to keep in mind that Griffe is solely responsible for the hardware, so expecting him to confirm or deny a potential major announcement would be naive. Meanwhile, the company has managed to maintain an air of secrecy around future projects, which only heightens interest in the possible return of Half-Life.
