EA has finally abandoned the revival of Dead Space

A remake of the classic space horror game Dead Space, released in early 2023, gave fans hope for the revival of the legendary series. Many were confident that a successful update of the original would lead to the creation of Dead Space 4. However, these expectations were not met.

Journalist Mike Straw reported on the Insider-Gaming podcast that Electronic Arts does not intend to continue the franchise. According to him, the project was sent to an indefinite and, probably, final freeze. Inside the publishing house, employees hope that management will still decide to sell the rights to the series to a third-party partner, since the company needs to compensate for huge expenses after a major deal with the Consortium, which includes the Saudi Arabian Sovereign Fund, Silver Lake and Affinity Partners.

Even earlier, plans for the fourth part were postponed due to the modest commercial results of the remake. Instead of returning to Dead Space, the studio was tasked with creating an Iron Man game. Even one of the authors of the original trilogy, Glen Scofield, offered to develop a sequel, but was refused. All signs indicate that the series will remain in the past for a long time, if not forever.
