Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic – A New Chapter in a Galaxy Far, Far Away

At The Game Awards 2025, a project was announced that immediately captured the attention of fans of role-playing games and the Star Wars universe. Casey Hudson, former development director of Mass Effect and one of the creators of the original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, unveiled his new game, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic. His studio, Arcanaut, is producing it.

As suggested by the concept art, the game will be a spiritual successor to KOTOR, although it is technically being developed under a separate intellectual property. Arcanaut promises a single-player story-driven adventure focused on choices that will lead the protagonist to either the light or dark side. According to the developers, the action will take place in a galaxy on the brink of rebirth, where every player decision will have consequences for the future of the world.

The creators are not yet revealing any details about the characters, setting, or mechanics. At TGA, only a cinematic trailer, built using Unreal Engine 5, was shown. Hudson and his team limited themselves to hints, leaving the audience to wait for further announcements and hope that the game would inherit the spirit of the classic KOTOR games.
