Analysts: CD Projekt RED is preparing story-driven DLC for The Witcher 3

The release of The Witcher 4 is still several years away, and according to insiders, CD Projekt RED intends to fill this gap with new content for the third installment in the series. This includes a full-fledged story expansion, which is expected to renew interest in the franchise.

The first indications of the DLC's development appeared in Remigiusz Maciaszek's podcast, and this information was later confirmed by financial analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski. According to him, the paid expansion for The Witcher 3 is planned for release as early as 2026, and it will kick off the active promotional campaign for The Witcher 4.

The DLC's budget is estimated at approximately 52 million zlotys, equivalent to $14.5 million. The analyst predicts approximately 11 million copies sold at an estimated price of $30. Plot-wise, the expansion is expected to connect the events of the third and fourth installments and likely establish Ciri as a full-fledged protagonist of the series.

Regarding upcoming projects, Chrzanowski expects The Witcher 4 to be released in the fourth quarter of 2027. However, the remake of the original The Witcher, he said, is progressing slowly, so its release is unlikely to happen before 2028.
