A modder has unveiled a fully-fledged next-gen version of GTA: Vice City with updated graphics and effects
The Rockstar fan community continues to independently develop the studio's classic games. This time, an enthusiast under the handle GTA Trilogy Games has unveiled a project billed as a "true" next-gen version of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, significantly improving the visuals of the iconic action game.
The modder has published a trailer for the project, titled Grand Theft Auto Vice City Actual NextGen Edition Project, on his YouTube channel. This isn't a single modification, but a comprehensive package of improvements, which the author has been creating and showcasing for approximately ten months. Essentially, it's a standalone project aimed at thoroughly updating the graphics and visual effects of the original game.

Judging by the footage, the modpack overhauls lighting, shadows, reflections, weather effects, and the overall feel of the city, bringing Vice City closer to modern standards. The author noted that this is his first attempt at creating a full-fledged trailer, and while it's far from perfect, he believes the video is sufficient to present his work to a wider audience.
Players also noted the opportune timing of the project's release. Many felt that releasing the trailer during the holiday season seemed strategically prudent, as Rockstar Games is less responsive to fan initiatives during this time.
