Minecraft has been recreating New York City at a 1:1 scale for five years now—the digital metropolis stretches over 700 square kilometers
The Build The Earth community has once again highlighted the ambitious New York City project, which enthusiasts have been working on for nearly five years. Their goal is to completely recreate New York City in Minecraft, accurately capturing its real-life dimensions and proportions. The resulting virtual city covers an area of approximately 700 square kilometers and continues to gradually expand with new details.
From fifty to eighty players worked simultaneously on the digital metropolis at various times. Many districts had to be rebuilt several times to achieve maximum fidelity to the original. The creators pay attention not only to the outlines of buildings and streets but also to the small details that are often overlooked.

In the virtual New York, you can find authentic elements of the urban environment, right down to the small objects on balconies and facades. According to the project participants, it is these details that make the work truly valuable and evoke a strong reaction from city residents, who recognize familiar places in digital form.
