The Witcher 4 budget could exceed $800 million, according to analysts

According to Noble Securities analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski, the total production and marketing budget for The Witcher 4 will exceed $800 million. The expert assumes a 50/50 split between the project's development and the advertising campaign, which is typical for global AAA releases. If these estimates are confirmed, the fourth installment will be one of the most expensive games in the history of the industry, significantly exceeding the costs of the previous installment in the franchise.

For comparison, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt cost approximately $81 million to produce, which is ten times less than the projected cost of the new project. Among the few games with comparable budgets are Genshin Impact, with expenditures of approximately $1 billion, Star Citizen, with $920 million, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, with $700 million. According to the Financial Times, the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI also has a record budget, estimated in the hundreds of millions of dollars, with the potential to reach $2 billion.

The Witcher 4 is being developed as a single-player, open-world RPG using Unreal Engine 5, marking the beginning of a new trilogy. A team of over 400 specialists is involved in the development, including former employees of the studios that worked on Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Baldur's Gate 3, and BioShock 4.
