Rumor: Rockstar may ditch GTA VI discs at launch due to leak risk
As the release of the long-awaited crime thriller approaches, more and more unofficial information about Rockstar's plans is surfacing online. This time, the publisher's possible decision to abandon physical copies of the game on launch day has sparked discussion. The company is reportedly considering a digital-only launch, at least initially.
Polish journalists, citing a European retailer that specializes in physical copies, claim that a boxed version of GTA VI is not included in the initial shipments. This decision is presumably due to Rockstar's desire to minimize the risk of leaks. Physical media are traditionally produced in advance, and they are often the source of premature content leaks.

According to the source, the disc release could be delayed by several months and take place after the game's release, tentatively in 2027. In this case, collectors will either have to wait or repurchase the game. As a reminder, GTA VI is scheduled to release on November 19, 2026, after two delays, and the current date, similar to the history of Red Dead Redemption 2, is considered final.
