The Overwatch reboot has amassed over 100,000 players on Steam
Blizzard Entertainment unveiled a major reboot of its team-based shooter, officially dropping the "2" from the title and ushering in a new chapter of the franchise. The update includes the release of five new heroes and significant changes to key gameplay systems.

The first season, dubbed Conquest, launched on February 10th. It kicks off the Reign of Talon story arc, which will unfold over six seasons. The story begins with the character Vendetta's victory over Doomfist, leading to the seizure of control of the Talon organization.

The central gameplay innovation is the "faction warfare" system. Players can join either Overwatch or Talon, complete weekly missions, and earn points for their faction. At the end of two battles scheduled throughout the season, the side with the higher score receives enhanced rewards. In the second battle, participants will have the opportunity to switch factions.
It was also announced that five more new characters would be added to the game throughout 2026, one with each subsequent season. Plans for further development after 2026 have not yet been specified. At launch, the peak number of concurrent players on the Steam platform alone approached 120,000.
