February's State of Play broke Sony's popularity record for similar shows

Held on the night of February 12th-13th, Sony's State of Play presentation became the most-watched in the history of this format. According to YouTube statistics, the combined number of views for the three versions of the broadcast—Japanese, English with subtitles, and the main English version—exceeded 4.8 million in the first four days. The previous similar broadcast, held in June, only managed to attract 3.8 million views in eight months.

This high viewer interest can be attributed to the event's packed program. Over the course of an hour, Sony showcased numerous high-profile announcements, among which the most notable were a full-fledged John Wick game starring Keanu Reeves and a remake of the original God of War trilogy. Konami also participated, delighting fans with a new Castlevania game and the long-awaited port of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots to modern platforms.

However, despite the record-breaking State of Play, the February broadcast still trails the company's larger events. PlayStation Showcase 2023, for example, garnered 6.1 million views, while the PlayStation 5 reveal, which took place in June 2020, remains the clear leader with an impressive 15.8 million.
