The new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 could have been the launch title for the new Xbox

Insider TheGhostofHope shared information that the shooter was initially considered the flagship project for the launch of the next generation of Xbox consoles. According to marketers, the game was intended to showcase the technical capabilities of the new platform and compete with GTA VI for the attention of a multi-million audience. However, the delay in the console's release forced Microsoft to adjust the shooter's promotional strategy.

In preparation for the platform's launch, the possibility of releasing two titles in the franchise simultaneously was even discussed. In addition to the multiplayer component of Modern Warfare 4, Treyarch is reportedly developing another shooter entirely dedicated to the Zombie mode. This model has already been used, when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was released alongside Infinite Warfare, attracting different segments of the fan base.

Furthermore, the insider claims that Microsoft intends to revise Activision's established operating structure and move away from a strict annual release cycle. Instead, they plan to implement a more flexible production model that will allow them to respond more quickly to market trends.
