Daniel Vavra has left his position as creative director of Warhorse to work on the Kingdom Come film adaptation

Warhorse Studios announced significant personnel changes a year after the successful release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. Daniel Vávra, the series' founder and main creative force, has decided to step down as creative director to focus on bringing the medieval saga to television.

Warhorse CEO Martin Frivaldský explained in an interview with CzechCrunch that the decision was voluntary and had nothing to do with internal conflicts within the company. Vávra, who created three globally successful games, had grown weary of game design and had long wanted to explore a new field. He will now be working on adapting Kingdom Come for the big or small screen; work on the draft script has already been completed.

Negotiations with potential film partners are already underway, and the studio does not intend to simply sell the rights, but rather to create a project that will be a gift to the creators themselves. The franchise has previously expanded beyond games, with concerts, comics, and travel events, but a film adaptation has long been the team's cherished dream.

Victor Botsan, lead designer and writer who made significant contributions to both Kingdom Come: Deliverance games, has been appointed Warhorse's new creative director. As for Vávra, his move into the film industry seems a logical step: the director himself has repeatedly criticized Hollywood, and his games have always been distinguished by their cinematic quality, so now he has the chance to prove his point. He will remain part of the Warhorse team, although he will not be in the office on a daily basis.
