The fate of The Wolf Among Us 2 has been clarified: the game will be released in 2027 after another reboot

The long-suffering sequel to the cult adventure game The Wolf Among Us appears to be finally taking shape. According to the Spanish-language publication Press Over, the game's development has been restarted once again, practically from scratch. The updated version of the project is expected to be unveiled to the public as early as 2026, with the release date set for 2027. To refresh fans' memories and strengthen the brand before the sequel's release, Telltale Games may release a remaster of the original The Wolf Among Us, the first episode of which was released back in 2013.

The development of the second installment has become a veritable series with endless twists and turns. The sequel was announced twice: first in 2017 and then, after the studio's revival, in 2019. In 2023, the project was delayed until 2024, citing the need to transition to Unreal Engine 5. However, this deadline was also missed. Now, according to sources, an Argentinian studio, whose name is being kept under wraps, has joined the production. Telltale representatives reportedly visited the team late last year.

Rumors that the game had been sent back for rework began circulating online back in February. However, the developer itself remains tight-lipped and has not yet commented on the new information. As a reminder, The Wolf Among Us 2 will continue the story of Detective Bigby, the sheriff of the fairytale town of Fabletown, and his investigations among familiar and new characters from the Fables comic book universe. Given the project's difficult history, fans can only hope that the development challenges will be behind them this time.
