Netflix is working on several adaptations of popular video games. The streaming giant is now teaming up with 2K and Take-To Interactive to produce films based on the iconic BioShock series.

The start of work on the tapes became known from the documentation, according to which Netflix acquired the rights to film adaptations of BioShock and another GRIS game. Now the project is at the stage of pre-production - there is a search for scriptwriters, director and casting for the roles. There is no information about the start of the filming process and the release of the film yet.

It's also unclear if characters and locations from the original games will be introduced into the story. In its announcement, Netflix included a frame with Big Daddy and Little Sister, and this gives reason to hope for the participation of these characters in the story.

2K, under the wing of Take-To, is currently developing a full-fledged fourth part of BioShock, the studio has been working on a sequel since 2019. According to rumors, the plot of the game will unfold in a fictional city in Antarctica in the 60s of the last century.

Information about the film adaptation of the BioShock franchise in recent years appears not for the first time. Previously, the rights to the film adaptation of the series belonged to Universal, the project was developed in the late 2000s and early 10s by Gore Verbinski, director of the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy.
