An unexpected release of software updates for the iPhone 5s and a number of other “oldies” took place

iOS 16.3 was recently released. But Apple also pleased the owners of already very outdated devices and talked about the attractive features of sudden updates.

In total, two updates were released for older iOS and macOS firmware, as well as one update for iPad OS. The updates are designed to eliminate a number of known vulnerabilities, in theory accessible to attackers.



So, the following operating systems have been updated:

• iOS 15.7.3 and 12.5.7
• macOS Monterey 12.6.3 and Big Sur 11.7.3
• iPad OS 15.7.3

The gap between iOS 12 and 15 is explained by the fact that all iPhones that have received iOS 13 have support for the year before last version of the mobile operating system. The most outdated smartphone in the list of devices that received updates is the 2013 iPhone 5s. Updates also received Mac Pro, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro of the same 2013.

There are a total of 344 fix points for all operating systems. Most of the fixes are for unnamed vulnerabilities. There were also improvements received by such pre-installed applications as Safari, iCloud, iTunes and others.
