GTA: Stars & Stripes mod closed by developers, fearing problems with Take-Two

Another ambitious mod for the GTA series has ceased to exist. The team behind Stars & Stripes has announced the closure of the project, which added new locations to GTA: San Andreas inspired by real places in the USA and other Rockstar projects. The developers noted that they had not received any formal claims from copyright holders, but decided not to take risks after the recent closure of the Liberty City Preservation Project and Vice City The Nextgen Edition.

The creators emphasized that Stars & Stripes was a fan initiative, and work on it was carried out solely out of interest. However, due to Take-Two's strict policy regarding large-scale modifications related to classic parts of GTA, they decided to disband the team.
Before the project was completed, the developers posted the latest available version Snapshot 1.5. It remains unfinished, but the community can improve it if desired. The only condition is not to use the name Stars & Stripes to avoid possible conflicts.
Take-Two has a history of blocking mods that involve retro games in the franchise, especially when they involve porting older maps to modern engines. Despite this, history shows that fans find ways to preserve and continue such projects under different names.
